Jakarta is one of the renowned places in Indonesia. This is one of the largest cities in the South-Eastern Asia. Of course, it has a long history and fascinating traditions.
There are so many term paper essays and academic essay writings on South-Eastern countries. However, none of such writings can reveal the peculiar atmosphere of Indonesia. The majority of tourists travelling to this region go to such places as Bali or Yogyakarta. However, I made the right decision to spend my vacation in Jakarta. It is a marvelous city. There can be no other place like this great and old port city. I visited numerous museums situated in the city. In fact, it seemed to me that people of Jakarta are more preoccupied with their past rather than their present or future. However, what I enjoyed were sacred constructions like Jakarta Cathedral, Sion Church (Gereja Sion), or Istiqlal Mosque. As for the Mosque I did not dare entering it (since I am not a Muslim and I am not aware of the conventions of this culture), so I appreciated its great architecture. Apart from magnificent buildings, I enjoyed the atmosphere of Jakarta. For instance, I will never forget a performance of martial art right in the street of the city. Of course, I will always remember the delicious food I tasted there. I was afraid I will have to eat some insects, but I found out that Indonesian cuisine is similar to that of mine, meat, fish, vegetables and spices. Yammi! |
